why choose Marble?

Marble: Classic Sophistication for Every Space

Marble is a metamorphic rock, sedimentary carbonate rocks that have been transformed by the geologic effects of intense heat, pressure and chemical action. It is composed primarily of calcium carbonate. Relatively soft with a dense, uniform composition it is a popular stone for sculpture, building, flooring and countertops.

Pros of marble

Improve Your Home's Value

People love real stone countertops. “It’s a status material and can help increase your home’s value." Plus, marble countertops are a timeless look that won't go out of style any time soon.

Variety of Colors and Finishes

A bright, white, polished marble finish is stunning, but it's not the only finish available. You can choose your countertop in a range of gray, green, brown, and taupe shades. Honed marble is ground down and isn’t polished, so it has a matte texture that feels more organic. It’s less forgiving and can stain more easily. So, you have to pick the finish that you feel would work best for your needs.

Long Lifespan

Marble can last up to 100 years. If you maintain it well (which often includes applying sealants), it will last you the length of the :me you live in your home. And since it has a timeless and elegant look, chances are you won't tire of it!

cons of Marble

Prone to Staining

Marble is a natural stone, which means that it can easily absorb drips, spills, and pigment from food if anything sits too long on the surface. It also doesn’t hold up well to heat, so hot pots or pans should never be placed directly on marble. Time and wear can also cause it to etch, which is just a dulling of the finish.

Limited Repair Options

Marble is a soft stone that scratches easily. Unlike a quartz you can't slice vegetables directly on it. Rather, you need to invest in some solid cutting boards to protect the counters from scratching. For the same reason, it's best to avoid scouring cleansers (like Soft Scrub), or abrasive sponges when cleaning marble.

High-Maintenance to Clean

For some of the reasons already stated, cleaning marble can be tricky. Rather than reaching for any household cleaner, you must check to make sure your product doesn't contain ingredients that might degrade the marble. So, if you’re dealing with a stubborn stain there might be some at-home remedies to try to remove them but learn what you can't use before forging ahead. On the bright side, for daily maintenance, you don’t need any special products—just a damp microfiber cloth, some dish soap, and hot water.

Develops a Patina Over Time

There’s a reason a vintage marble-topped table looks like it’s seen a thing or two—it’s because it has. However, if patina isn't your thing, you may want to opt for a surface that will look pristine for years and years, like engineered quartz.

- Barry Gant

Radim's team at Waterfall Countertops did a stunning job installing our new Cambria quartz countertops and back splash in our Kitchen. Skillfully installed our new island and new the countertop on existing cabinets with the new pearl and marble tile back splash. Simply beautiful quality work from start to finish. Radim is very detailed in his preparation, prompt and responsive through entire process!

- Dee Pettit

I recently had a quartz countertop installed in my kitchen. It was a great process from start to finish. Communication was good, the job was completed in a timely manner and the end result looks great. A very nice gentleman came out to template and was very knowledgeable and thorough. The installers were on time, took care during the install and did a great job with the two seams. I can barely find the seams so I am very happy with that. I would absolutely recommend Waterfall Countertops and will use them again in the future.

- Cara Cortazzo

Radim and Waterfall Countertops was an absolute pleasure to work with on our kitchen project. He provided an in-depth consultation to help us make decisions, connected us with reputable suppliers for granite, tile and sink, and used high quality service providers for electrical, plumbing and tiling needs. He provided us with a timeline for the project and delivered as promised. Radim was flexible around our scheduling needs, a quick problem solver when unexpected situations occurred, a great communicator and a pleasure to have in our home. We could not be happier with the end results and would happily recommend him to others.
